Yesterday one of my clients told me he didn’t feel as though the New Year had really started for him. It was the 1st February.
Yesterday was also Chinese New Year.
Perhaps like my client, you are still stuck in last year and so caught up in just getting through the day that you’ve not had a moment to lift your head up and take a moment to look at the road ahead of you.
What do you want from the year ahead? What do you want from 2022?
The year of the water Tiger is just beginning. People born in the Year of the Tiger are characterised as being brave, competitive and confident. But, on the other hand, they can sometimes be unpredictable, irritable, and overindulgent.
Is this what you want to characterise your year?
The Water Tiger
A prosperous year for many
- Take a deep breath.
- Take yourself forward to 21st January 2023, the end of the year of the Tiger.
- Ask yourself the question: what type of prosperous year have I had?
- When was I brave, competitive and confident?
- When was I unpredictable, irritable and overindulgent?
And as you reflect on the year you’d like to have, return to the present moment and ask yourself: am I ready to start living the year of the Water Tiger?
And what could a Water Tiger year look like?
The 1982 song Eye of the Tiger by Survivor is celebrating its 40th anniversary. It remains the go to song for motivation. In Rocky 3, the song is used to think of past successes, to understand why these successes were possible, to relight the fire inside, to get back on your feet even when things don’t go right.
It is a song that talks about never giving up on your dreams, no matter how many times things go wrong.
How perfect that Eye of the Tiger is marking its 40th anniversary in 2022, just when the world needs to find the motivation to rekindle the fire and find a new way forward no matter how much we’ve struggled.
Corny as it sounds, are you ready to turn the song on loud and rediscover your inner strength and motivation? The eye of the tiger is a metaphor, comparing an eye of a tiger to determination and perseverance.
Eye of the Tiger really does make you run faster. Scientists say listening to motivational music can boost performance. Listening to motivational music like ‘Eye of the Tiger’ by Survivor does actually help runners combat mental
fatigue, a new study has claimed.

Take a moment for yourself
Perhaps before we plough into the year of the Tiger, we would benefit from taking a moment to ask ourselves:
WHAT IS THE COST OF A BOOMING ECONOMY ON THE INDIVIDUAL?
WHAT DOES A PROSPEROUS YEAR LOOK LIKE TO YOU?
WHAT HAS THE GLOBAL PANDEMIC TAUGHT US ABOUT OUR VALUES AND PRIORITIES?
It’s Our Mission
Discover the Purpose in Everyone
Our Mission is to equip leaders to discover the purpose in everyone, to inspire the company to honour its reason for being, so that everyone can be in flow through unknotting and live at their full potential. The Stepping into Authentic Leadership programmes are a key part of achieving this. We act as advisors to business leaders and boards, we facilitate team workshops and open training programmes. We coach business leaders, and help companies measure and track how much of their human potential they are accessing. We do this through our global team of specialist facilitators and coaches.
